About Ballinger

Eric has been with the St. Charles Rehabilitation team since 1996.  He received his Masters of Physical Therapy from Pacific University in 1996.

He joined the Outpatient Rehab Department in 2000, focusing on neurological disorders including Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, ALS, and Parkinson's disease.  Eric also focuses on working with individuals with lower extremity amputations.  He has been a past member of the Rehab Engineering Society of North America (RESNA) with Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP) credentialling.  He has conducted a Wheelchair Seating and Positioning Clinic since 2000.  He is the lead Physical Therapist with the ALS clinic in the Central Oregon region.  

Eric has a passion for applying patient goals into daily life and reintegration back into the community, despite a life changing injury or diagnosis.  He has also been a past Board member of Oregon Adaptive Sports that provides equal access to outdoor recreation regardless of ability.

Outside of work,  Eric enjoys reading and discussing American history and has assisted in the dedication of the Nisei Veterans WW2 Memorial Highway in the Hood River valley.  He is a member of the Japanese American Citizens League and the Japanese American Society of Central Oregon.  He continues to navigate the snow on telemark skis, loves to run, tends a small hobby fruit orchard, and is a passionate forager out in the woods. He thoroughly enjoys his time with his family and is continually trying to keep up with his teenage daughter!
