After your surgery

You will receive postoperative instructions before you leave the hospital

  • You will be instructed on wound care, medications, activity or diet restrictions, and what to expect during the healing process
  • If you are planning on going home after your surgery, you must have someone able to drive you home and someone to remain with you overnight following your surgery
  • It is recommended that children have two adults present for the ride home (one to drive, one to tend to and observe the child)
  • If you notice any signs or symptoms of infection following surgery, you should contact your surgeon’s office right away
